Caribbean Fashion Week 2013: All Roads Lead to Jamaica
Fresh off the plane from Johannesburg, I've had a little over 48 hours to recuperate before joining Hillary for a weekend in lovely Kingston, Jamaica for 2013 Caribbean Fashion Week. Perhaps the idea of heading back to JFK after an 18-hour flight is a bit crazy, but how could I turn down an opportunity to experience what has become one of the premier fashion events in the Caribbean over the past 12 years? Since 2001, this annual celebration of global design and fashion has taken over the Jamaican capital, featuring approximately 50 designers from over 20 countries each year. This year's event will be no different, with three days of exhibitions and collections, capped off by performances by Kelly Rowland, Sizzla, Ninja Man and none other than Sheila E. To say we're excited would be an understatement. So for this experience, we're loading up on caffeine, re-packing our sunblock, lotion and flip flops and heading to Jamaica. We'll be posting updates from the weekend on Instagram and Twitter so if you're not already, follow us at @parlourmagazine.See you soon!
